Private Commission
During the summer of 2010 I was hosted by a family in Sydney to create a series of abstract paintings for their home, in the spirit of the Indian Holi Festival.
They wished for large & bold contemporary paintings to be the centre piece for their living space. The final pieces were richly vibrant in colour, incorporating Indian holi powders, inks, paint and gold leaf. Metalic papers, some which were collected in India made up the ornate textured surfaces.
Studio works in progress:
As the garden and shed became my studio for 2 months my hosts had the unique chance to witness the works being made over time.
I have a lack of good photo documentation of this project happeneing, since it was just before the world went digital. As I reflect on this moment in time, it was really at the end of life as we knew it then, or percieved it to be; far more simple and straight forward.
