Private Commission | Sydney

One glorious summer I landed a dream job; I was hosted by a family in Australia to complete a commission for a home owner, Anna. Her only request was for me to create a series of paintings for her newly renovated home, in the spirit of the Indian Holi Festival.

I worked each day in the garden and I enjoyed also being taken in as a family member, enjoying the children, their dog Charllie and the local beaches. It also gave me a really good chance to get to know them and their home, and their visual aesthetics.

Anna is is total style queen and we agreed on bright, contemporary, abstract paintings with wow factor and they really looked spectacular in her home. The final pieces were large 1 x 1 meter sq framed artworks incorporating Indian Holi powders, inks, paint, gold leaf and metalic papers.

Sadly I don’t have any photograph documentation of this project in situ, since it happened before the world turned digital, somewhere in that blissful existence when nobody needed mobile phones. If I did, there would be a photo of my favourite deep but bright purple tree which took my breath away.
