Sound Painting

“Eimear made me cry for a full 5 minutes with this responsive painting
It’s the first thing I’d fetch if the house was burning”
Rachael Jean Harris
In response to hearing Rachael Jean Harris's sound piece I wanted to create an artwork which would take me further into the senses.
To begin with, I allowed the arrangements of sound to dictate my movements, making marks & textures with inks. This was then built upon with layers and layers of paints and finally pastels.
I invite you to listen to the accompanying sound clip below. It may have been the familiarity of having walked those very same pathways so many times myself that drew me into this. Or the surprise narrative of Rachael's attached to it. Or just because I love everythng Rachael does.
If you live in Merseyside and walk the New Brighton promenade yourself, the next time you glance over at those silo's on the other side, you may think of Rachael and I.
