Eimear’s work has the strange effect of moving you without you knowing it, like staring through an old memory or a fragment of a dream through a zoetrope machine

Venture Beyond The Boundaries

Of Sight & Limiting Beliefs

‘It did me a lot of good that one.. On the other side of pain there is change. Now when I look at my painting I feel loved, understood, peaceful and powerful. I’m mesmerised by the aesthetic beauty of it. It is so important to me and I will treasure it 'till the day I die. See your ripple effect'

Science & Magic is a fortnightly newsletter compiled by Matt Lockett, founder of Violette Records. It comes into your inbox as a creative fusion of various artists, writers and musicians who ‘treat the world with both scientific curiosity and profound sense of wonder’.

You can catch up with my musings here, where I am faced with a question to respond to, in whichever way I wish.

The Ministry of Small Truths is a new department within Science & Magic operated by Toria Garbutt and Eimear Kavanagh which archives the small, overlooked, profoundly true moments that comprise a life.

The Art of Cula Bula

Hello, and welcome!

I am Eimear Kavanagh, born in Ireland in 1973 and currently living in the North East of England. Closest to me are my twin sister and spiritual guide, Niamh and my mum, Eileen who is unstoppable and just the right amount of crazy and I think I definately fit somewhere inbetween the two.

I am drawn to nature and the elements, paying attention to the natural rhythms and cycles. This leads me onto explore the connection between the light and dark changing moods of life, in all it’s forms.

Introspection

Endevouring to find balance in a world of imperfection, I turn to my art because it allows me to express of all the complexities of what it is to be human. Ultimately, my works are about inner transformation, of my own and others.

On identifying as a ‘Visionary’

Art can turn the unseen into something visible. This is a gift that I believe we are all born with so we are all visionaires in our own ways; shaped by different experiences and evolving through time. For me to share this gift with others somehow feels important and wholesome.
